ASSALAMUALAIKUM YA AHLAL QUBOOR

In one hadith narration it was mentioned that visiting the graves was forbidden. But the Prophet later changed his mind allowing people to visit the cemetery.
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “(In the past) I forbade you from visiting graves, but visit them now.” In another narration Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever wants to visit a graveyard, let him do so, because it reminds us of the Hereafter.”
The Prophet realized that death can actually make our lives better and allow us to become more productive.
How you may ask?
If we habitually visit the graveyard to remember loved ones we also face the unintentional consequence of orienting ourselves to what’s truly important in this world.
When we visit the cemetery we finally get disconnected from our day to day reality and are no longer bogged down by trivial matters. We are able to see the bigger picture and can become more forgiving of our little fights with family and friends.
We come to the realization that our time on earth is short, what’s really important is the time we have spent pleasing our creator.
The main objective of this life is to work achieve Jannah for ourselves and then to help our loved ones who’s opportunity has passed.
The assalamualaikum ya ahlal quboor dua is one way we can make a difference. Reciting this dua asks Allah for peace upon their graves and asks for Allah’s forgivnesss for them.
Let’s learn this full dua with it’s meaning.

ASSALAMUALAIKUM YA AHLAL QUBOOR DUA FOR GRAVE

This dua comes from At-Tirmidhi and Bulugh al-Maram. In arabic text it’s written,
Assalamualaikum yaa ahlal quboor. Yaghfirullahu lanaa wa lakum wa antum salafunaa wa nahnu bil ithar.

MEANING OF DUA FOR VISITING GRAVE:

Peace be upon you, O dwellers of these graves. May Allah forgive you and us. You have preceded us, and we are following your trail.
This was related by At-Tirmidhi who graded this hadith as Hasan.

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM AHLAD DIYAR DUA FOR GRAVEYARD

There is another duas besides the as salaam alaikum ahlal kubur which you could recite. This dua was mentioned in Sahih Muslim.

Transliteration
: Assalamu alaikum ahlad diyar, minal-mu’mineena walmuslimeena, wa ‘innaa ‘in shaa’ Allaahu bikum laahiqoona as’alullaaha lanaa wa lakumul- ‘aafiyata.
Translation: Oh Muslims residing here, salaams on you, by the will of Allah we will also be coming to you. We seek safety for us and you.
These are two duas which are easy to learn and memorize and can be said to bring peace to our loved one’s in the grave.
What’s beautiful of these specific duas is they go beyond asking Allah for forgiveness of just one individual but asks for forgiveness and safety of all Muslims who may reside in that graveyard.
Oh Allah make us among your righteous servants and guide us all to the right path. Ameen.

DUA FOR DEBT FROM HADITH (ALLAHUMMA AKFINI BIHALALIKA)

“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed.” Surah Mulk Ayah 2
In life we will face many tests, Allah has told this in the Qur’an.
This is not to torture us but to test and build our character. In Surah Baqarah it tells us “Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.” Surah Baqarah Ayat 286
We may have difficulties and challenges but nothing which we can’t handle. All our trials in life are things which can push us to the edge but not enough to knock us off the cliff. Subhanallah.
In hadith Riyad As Salihin hadith 101, Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying those in Jahannam will be the people of desires and passions while Jannah will be people of adversities.
In the hadith there’s a mention of a dua which can help with money problems. Ali’ reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught the following dua to ask for Allah’s help to relieve debt as large as a mountain.

DUA FOR DEBT RELIEF

Transliteration: Allahumma akfini bihalalika an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwaka

TRANSLATION OF ALLAHUMMA AKFINI BIHALALIKA DUA:

The meaning of the dua is “O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You.”

Hadith Full Dua
Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
A slave who had made a contract with his master to pay for his freedom, came to me and said: “I am unable to fulfill my obligation, so help me.” He said to him: “Shall I not teach you a supplication which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me? It will surely prove so effective that if you have a debt as large as a huge mountain, Allah will surely pay it for you. Say: ‘Allahumm-akfini bihalalika ‘an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwaka (O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You).”

Dua Qunoot // DUA QUNOOT FOR WITR SALAH

Dua Qunoot (or sometimes referred to as dua-e-qunoot or qunut dua) is a special supplication which is mentioned in the hadith.
It is often recited and known for it’s association with the Witr salah.
However, people from the Shafi’i school may know the qunoot dua to be recited regularly in Salatul Fajr prayer. And other schools have other positions.
So…. which is the correct view?
The correct position is that the Qunut dua can be done at anytime, the Prophet (ﷺ) was recorded in many authentic hadith narrations as saying the Qunut in both fajr, maghrib and in isha. [1,2,3]
Now, it is not mandatory that qunut be recited in the Witr Salah. If you go to any masjid across the globe you may have noticed the Imam’s reciting duas which come straight from the heart which may include different hadith and quranic duas.
But it is the Sunnah or mustahabb (recommended) to recite the Qunoot during Witr based off the hadith. [4]

WHAT IS THE QUNOOT DUA IN ARABIC:

Narrated by Al-Hasan ibn Ali (who is the grandson of Muhammad (ﷺ)) he said he was taught by the Prophet (ﷺ) to say the qunoot dua in Arabic as follows: [5]

TRANSLITERATION AND ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Inshallah you will find the transliteration useful in your memorization and reading process. Below is the english translation of qunoot.
Translation: “O Allah guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, befriend me among those You have befriended, bless me in what You have granted, and save me from the evil that You decreed. Indeed You decree, and none can pass decree, and none can pass decree upon You, indeed he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, blessed are You our Lord and Exalted.”
Hanafi commonly recite second version of Dua-E-Qunot.
Meaning: O Allah! We invoke you for help, and beg for forgiveness, and we believe in you and have trust in you and we praise you, in the best way we can; and we thank you and we are not ungrateful to you, and we forsake and turn away from the one who disobeys you. O Allah! We worship you and prostrate ourselves before you, and we hasten towards you and serve you, and we hope to receive your mercy and we dread your torment. Surely, the disbelievers shall incur your torment.
WHICH OF THE TWO SHOULD WE RECITE?
Ibn ‘Uqayl al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that dua’s narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ) should be what is recited as regular word, and anything added to it is by way of a concession. He said: What is mustahabb in our view is that which was narrated by al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): “Allahumma ihdini…” – the well-known hadeeth.
He said: If one adds to that the words narrated from ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), “Allahumma inna nasta‘eenuka… (O Allah, we seek Your help)…”, there is nothing wrong with that. End quote.
This was quoted by Ibn Muflih in his comment on al-Muharrar, 1/89

DUA QUNOOT BEFORE OR AFTER RUKU

This is Ruku Position – Image from our complete guide teaching Muslims how to preform salah.
Most scholars say the Qunoot should come after bowing or after the Ruku (i.e. after saying sami allahu liman hamidah rabbana lakal hamd). You would then raise your hands for supplication and recite the qunot. After finishing the imam would say takbeer, “allahu akbar” and go into sujud. It’s also acceptable the qunoot dua be done done before going into the ruku. [6]

CAN THE QUNOOT DUA BE FOUND IN THE QURAN?

No, the dua e-qunoot is not mentioned in the Qur’an it is the Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ).

QUNOOT DUA SOURCES FROM HADITH:

[1] Qunoot in Fajr – Narrated Muhammad bin Seereen: Anas was asked, “Did the Prophet (ﷺ) recite Qunut in the Fajr prayer?” Anas replied in the affirmative. He was further asked, “Did he recite Qunut before bowing?” Anas replied, “He recited Qunut after bowing for some time (for one month).” Sahih al-Bukhari 1001
[2] Qunoot in Subh Prayer and Maghrib – Al-Bara bin Azib narrated: “The Prophet (S) would perform the Qunut in the Subh and Maghrib prayers.” Sahih (Darussalam) Jami At-Tirmidhi 401
[3] Qunoot in Witr during third rakat – It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka’b that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray witr with three rak’ahs. In the first he would recite: “Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High” in the second: “Say: O you disbelievers!”, and in the third: “Say: He is Allah, (the) One”. And he would say the Qunut before bowing, and when he finished he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the last time. Sahih (Darussalam) Sunan an-Nasa’i 1699
[4] Qunnot in Witr – Abu Dawud said: This version of tradition is not well know. There is doubt that Hafs might have narrated this tradition from some other narrator than Mis’ar. Abu Dawud said: It is reported that Ubayy (b. Ka’b) used to recited the supplication (in the witr) in the second half of Ramadan. Sahih (Al-Albani) Sunan Abi Dawud 1427
[5] Source for what is to be recited in Qunoot – Narrated Al-Hasan ibn Ali: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me some words that I say during the witr. (The version of Ibn Jawwas has: I say them in the supplication of the witr.) They were: “O Allah, guide me among those Thou hast guided, grant me security among those Thou hast granted security, take me into Thy charge among those Thou hast taken into Thy charge, bless me in what Thou hast given, guard me from the evil of what Thou hast decreed, for Thou dost decree, and nothing is decreed for Thee. He whom Thou befriendest is not humbled. Blessed and Exalted art Thou, our Lord.” Sahih (Al-Albani) Sunan Abi Dawud 1425
[6] Qunoot Before or After Ruku – It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: He was asked about Qunut in the Subh prayer, and he said: “We used to recite Qunut before Ruku’ and afterwards.” Hasan (Darussalam) Sunan Ibn Majah 1183

BENEFITS OF SURAH AL FALAQ AND SURAH AN NAAS

Holy Quran is a book of knowledge and Wisdom. Though it is the holiest religious book of Muslims, though, to those who desire to know about the world and universe and the concept of ALLAH Almighty and how He alone is the Creator of all, Holy Quran presents vast examples and explains the whole thing in detail. Therefore, Muslims receive the double benefits of getting reward by reciting the Holy Quran, as well as finding commands and instructions to understand and know life and live it in a superior way.
Holy Quran is comprised of Surahs (chapters) where each and every verse had a specific reason behind its revelation. Furthermore, other than the verses being a part of Holy Quran that brings return, there are different verses that come with extraordinary virtues. Two of such renowned short chapters are Surah al Falaq, and Surah an Naas.
SURAH AL FALAQ:
The translation of the Surah al Falaq is:
“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn. From the mischief of created things; from the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; from the mischief of those who practice Secret Arts; and from the mischief of the envious one as he practices envy.”
Virtues of this surah:
One hadith shows that recitation of Surah al Falaq along with 2 other last chapters of Holy Quran was the Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH) and He would have the recital wipe over His body as if making a protective layer. Hence, a Muslim should also consider following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (PBUH) and then be familiar with the endless benefits it brings to a person.
Finding Insight:
If a person considers over the verses of Surah al Falaq then a person can easily assess that these verses refer to seeking safety and protection of ALLAH Almighty, initially from all kinds of evil that befalls in night or day. Secondly, shield from those people who practice magic and thirdly, defence from those who are envious and jealous and conduct acts of jealousy.
All these three are the most generally occurring things that can easily harm a person. Hence, this Surah tells that if a person is to seek guard and protection from these 3 kinds of ills, then one should invoke ALLAH Almighty. Hence, the recitation of Surah al Falaq can assist a great deal in fighting envy, evil, and secret arts.
SURAH AN NAAS:
The translation of Surah an Naas is:
“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind, the King (or Ruler) of Mankind – the ALLAH (or Judge) of Mankind – from the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper) – (The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind – Among Jinns and among Men.”
Virtues:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used these 2 Surahs as a means of shield from Jinns and to ward of the attacks and effects of evil eye. Hence, a Muslim should get into the habit of reciting this chapter every day.
Finding Insight:
In Surah an Naas the safeguard is from the evil whispers of Shaitan, the evil whispers of individuals and the Jinn.

surah naas benefits // surah naas benefits in urdu //why was surah naas revealed,

Surah Nas is the last surah in the Quranic order. It’s consisting of 6 verses which are based on seeking refuge from the harm of Shaytaan. This Surah was revealed on Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) along with Surah Falak in Makkah when he was under the spell of black magic.
Surah An-Nas and Surah Falak are together called Al-Mu’awwidhatayn. If we contemplate over the significance of the Surah a Naas verses, at that point we can that this Surah is somehow similar to Surah al Falaq where one ask protection of Allah Almighty.
In Surah An-Nas, there is the protection from evil murmurs of Satan, the malicious murmurs of human and the Jinn. All these three bring annihilation and a wide range of issues to an individual, consequently, the recitation of this Surah can help keep these three shades of evil under control. The benefits of Surah An-Naas are enormous. If you read Surah Naas before going to sleep, it can save you from nightmares, black magic and from other spiritual evils.

Surah Nas Benefits:

Surah A Naas (Chapter of Mankind) is to seek protection against the shades of malice of Shaytan and the Jinn. It was uncovered to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when a witch had put a spell on him, causing him troubles. This surah is utilized related to the surah before it (Surah Al-Falaq) for assurance. While Surah al-Falaq shields us from the fiendishness of mankind, Surah An Nas shields us from Jinn and Satan.
According to the narration of Imam Baqir (R.A), it is stated:
"He who recites Surah Falaq, Nas, and Ikhlas in his Witr prayer he will be told
'O Slave of Allah, cheer that Allah has accepted your Witr prayer'.
There are various customs on the uprightness of reciting this Surah; for instance, a convention says that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) turned out to be gravely sick. Gabriel and Michael, two extraordinary Holy messengers of Allah, came to him. Gabriel sat adjacent to the leader of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) and Michael sat close to his feet. Gabriel recited Surah Falaq and by it put the Prophet (S.A.W.W) in the refuge of Allah, and Michael recited Surah Nas.
