Allah, the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, loves his creation. The king of all has guided humanity via the holy book, Quran. Unfortunately, the Muslim of today does not read the Quran in its full essence. He finds it difficult to comprehend the meaning and message of the Quran.
However, there are certain verses in the Quran in which Allah is directly commanding humans, and which are easy to read.
Allah, the most beneficent and merciful has revealed Islam so that humanity can benefit and find the right path. Islam, the deen (a complete way of life), has answers for all the questions of humanity. However, only those will find the answers, who really want them. Allah always reveals the truth for those who seek.
Here is the list of few commandments from Allah for the Muslims.
1. Restrain Anger
Allah says about restraining the anger in Surah e Al-e Imran (3:134).
Anger is prohibited in Islam.
2. Be good to others
In this verse of Surah, An Nisa, Allah says, “Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess.” (4:36)
3. Do not be arrogant
In surah, Al Araf, Allah talks about arrogance. (7:13)
4. Forgive others for their mistakes
In Surah At Taghabun, Allah says, “O you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (62:14)
5. Speak to people mildly
In Surah, Taha, Allah talk commands about gentleness in speech. (20:44)
6. Do not ridicule or insult others
In Surah Al Hujarat, Allah Almighty says, “O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them, nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames.” (49:11)
7. Be dutiful and respectful to parents
In Surah Al Isra Allah commands about parents. (17:23)
8. Don’t consume interest
In Surah Al-Baqarah Allah strict proscribes interest and usuary. Allah says, “Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stand who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, “Trade is [just] like interest.” But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest.” (2:275)
9. Do not engage in bribery
In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah commands about bribery. Allah says, “And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]. (2:188)
10. Do not break the promise
Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah, “[those who] fulfill their promise when they promise.” (2:177)
11. Keep the trust
Keeping trust is one of the utmost obligations in Islam. Allah commands about trust in Surah Baqrah. (2:283)
12. Do not mix the truth with falsehood
“And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].” – Surah Al- Baqarah. (2:42)
13. Judge with justice between people
Allah talks about justice in Surah-Nisa. (4:58)
14. Help those in need by finding them
Allah talks about charity and helping those in need in Surah Al Baqarah. (2:273)
15. Do not even approach unlawful sexual intercourse
In Surah Al-Isra, Allah has proscribed unlawful sex. (17:32)
16. Do not kill each other
In Surah Nisa, Allah talks about killing each other which is prohibited in Islam. And The verse also tells about those who mistakenly kill anyone; and what to do if someone kills another being. (4:92)
17. Do not insult others’ deities (Gods)
In Surah, Al Anaam, Allah says, “And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.” Hence, it is prohibited in Islam to insult the deities of other religions. (6:108)
18. Never give up hope of Allah’s Mercy
Allah says in Surah, Yusuf (Joseph), “Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.” (12:87)
19. No one will bear others’ sins
Everyone is responsible for his own deed. In Surah, Al-Isra, Allah says, “Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.” (17:15)
20. Women should not display their finery
In Surh, Al- Ahzab, Allah says, “And do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance.” (33:33)
21. Treat non-Muslims in a kind and fair manner
In Surah, Mumtahanah, Allah says, “Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them.” (60:8)
22. Do not repel the petitioner/beggar
In Surah, Ad Duha, Allah says, “And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].” (93:10)
In conclusion, the religion of peace, Islam is the complete way of life. Allah has guided human beings about everything in this materialistic world. There are etiquettes for every occasion. Those things question and answers which are not clear in the Quran can be learned from Hadiths and Tafseer of the Quran.
