RABBANA ATINA FID DUNYA HASANAH FULL DUA

Today we will learn about the very popular “Rabbana Atina Fid Dunya Dua” which is from the Qur’an mentioned Surah Baqarah ayah 201.
This power in this dua is that it’s said to be like an all inclusive vacation, it is open ended and asks Allah for anything you could have in mind.

Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid dunya hasanatan wa fil Aakhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar

RABBANA ATINA FID DUNYA HUSANAH TRANSLATION

The meaning of the dua is, “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Here are other translations from different sources of the same ayah. 
DR. GHALI And of them are (some) who say, “Our Lord, bring us in the (present) life a fair (reward), and in the Hereafter a fair (reward), and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”
MUHSIN KHAN And of them there are some who say: “Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!”
ABDUL HALEEM others pray, ‘Our Lord, give us good in this world and in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.’
YUSUF ALI And there are men who say: “Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!”
DR. MUSTAFA KHATTAB Yet there are others who say, “Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”

RABBANA ATINA FID DUNYA SURAH?

This Dua is from Surah Baqarah verse 201. There are a total of 40 Rabbana duas and 6 are from Surah Baqarah alone.

BENEFITS OF RECITING THIS DUA

This dua is comprehensive, the word hasanah in Arabic translates to “all that is good” and refers to all things both inwardly and outwardly. This includes but is not limited to:
  • A Good Wife (or Husband).
  • Pious Children.
  • Success in Business, Career or Job.
  • Personal and Family Health.
  • Doing Well in School.
  • Having Desirable Morals.
  • Having Beneficial Knowledge.
  • Having Integrity, strength, and courage.
When you recite this dua you have the intention of reciting for a specific purpose and Allah knows what’s in your heart.
In the Tafsir of Mufti Shafi Usmani, it says,
“In short, this du’a is a compendium of all prayers in as much as it encompasses the entire range of man’s worldly and other-worldly objectives. Apart from enjoying peace in the world, and peace in the Hereafter, the verse, refers in the end to the safety from ‘the punishment of Fire’ as well. It was for this reason that the Holy Prophet PBUH used to pray with these words very frequently”
The Rabbana atina fid dunya dua is only 12 words short making it easy for Muslims to recite and memorize. We recommend learning it and repeating it throughout the day, whenever you desire or find yourself hoping to achieve something good ask Allah for his help by keeping this dua in mind.
